Prepares various breakfast foods for the Hy-Vee Market Grille and is responsible for all hot foods and cold foods including available heat-and-eat varieties. The Breakfast Cook is responsible for prepping a variety of ingredients and assembling dishes according to restaurant recipes and specifications. Reports to District Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Homes; Food Service Manager; Market Grille Department Manager, Assistant Market Grille Department Manager. Primary duties include providing prompt, efficient and friendly customer service, greeting customers, assisting customers, answering telephone calls, working with co-workers as a team, preparing cooking surfaces, vegetables, sides, meats and breakfast foods, placing food in hot cases, preparing items for upcoming shifts, understanding kitchen operations, practicing proper sanitation, maintaining personal hygiene and dress standards, adhering to company policies, reporting to work on time, and knowing menu items to take guest orders. Secondary duties include providing direct customer service, ordering products and supplies, assisting in other store areas, and performing other job-related duties and special projects. Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include problem solving, basic math, following instructions, and communication. Education and experience required is high school or equivalent and six months or less of similar or related work experience. Physical requirements include exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and performing various physical activities. Working conditions include exposure to cool and warm environments, noise, vibrations, cleaning chemicals, and a fast-paced work environment. Equipment used includes grill, toaster, coffee machine, oven, steamer, chopper, hot case, kitchen utensils, knives, stove, chicken roaster, can opener, and C.A.R.S. reordering system. Daily interaction with customers and fellow employees.
