Job Description

Hey! We're Manasplaining, a small but mighty Magic: The Gathering Commander gameplay channel. We’re looking for someone who can take a rough cut and transform it into a polished, high-energy episode complete with light motion graphics and a strong comedic rhythm. This is a project-by-project role, but we publish an episode every two weeks and are looking to form an ongoing working relationship with an editor who matches our tone and style. How We Operate We record ~2 hours of casual, unscripted Commander gameplay. A rough cut editor trims the gameplay footage down to ~30–40 minutes, removing silences, off-topic tangents, and pacing dead zones. Your job starts here. You’ll take that rough cut and:

• Create a unique introduction which pulls the audience in
• Add jokes/memes/bits throughout the game to keep things interesting
• Enhance comedic and dramatic pacing
• Add motion graphics (nameplates, turn indicators, punch-ins, etc. - we have MOGRTs/template stuff you can use here so you don't need to reinvent the wheel if you don't want to)
• Polish it so it’s ready for upload — sharp, clean, and fun to watch.

What We're Looking For We want someone who can add jokes/dumb memes and a layer of polish to casual Commander gameplay content, to make us laugh. You should be comfortable:

• Punching up pacing with tight edits, zooms, jump cuts, sound effects, and timing tweaks.
• Applying motion graphics — player names, life totals, subtle prompts, overlays, etc. We have MOGRTs for you to make this easier.
• Drawing from styles like: [Papa Meat]( and [Cold Ones](
• Taking creative initiative - genuinely we just want you to do the thing that you think is funny/would make for an entertaining edit, really!

Job Requirements

• Software: Adobe Premiere (required). After Effects or similar for motion graphics work is a plus.
• Editing Skills: Strong sense of comedic timing, visual rhythm, and story structure.
• Graphics: Comfortable with basic motion graphics (names, timers, lower-thirds, etc.).
• Communication: Open to feedback. We use Frame.io for collaborative review.
• MTG Knowledge: Not required, but helpful. If you’ve played Commander, that’s a bonus!

Other Notes We release one episode every two weeks, but we tend to schedule well in advance. As a result, we aim to make sure we don't rush edits to give our editors as much time as they need to work on it around their schedule. We're flexible on deadlines — if you're a good fit, we’ll work around you! If you're also interested in handling the whole edit (from rough cut to final video), we'd love to hear about that too.
