Job Summary:

The Global Director of Procurement will lead the strategic procurement function for capital expenditure (CapEx) spend for a category leading manufacturer. This role is responsible for developing and executing global procurement strategies to optimize CapEx investments, drive cost efficiencies, and ensure alignment with the company’s operational and financial objectives. The successful candidate will oversee supplier relationships, negotiate high-value contracts, and implement best-in-class procurement processes to support major capital projects, including equipment, infrastructure, and technology investments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement global procurement strategies for CapEx spend, ensuring cost optimization, quality, and timely delivery.
  • Lead the sourcing, negotiation, and management of high-value contracts with suppliers and vendors for capital projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and finance, to align procurement with project timelines and budgets.
  • Drive supplier performance management, fostering long-term partnerships to ensure reliability and innovation.
  • Implement risk management strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions and ensure compliance with regulatory and sustainability standards.
  • Oversee a global team of procurement professionals, providing leadership, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Utilize data analytics and market insights to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve procurement efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focused on CapEx spend.
  • Proven expertise in the specialty chemicals, mining, or heavy industry sectors.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience managing complex, high-value contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead global teams and drive cross-functional collaboration.
  • Deep understanding of supply chain dynamics, market trends, and risk management in capital-intensive industries.
  • Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with procurement software and data analytics tools.
