Responsibilities You will respond to emergencies as a member of an Engine Company, Truck Company, Rescue Company, Hazardous Materials Team and/or a Rescue Team. You will participate in daily training and instruction classes covering all phases of fire protection, fire prevention and emergency medical services. You will act as the driver/operator of an emergency response pumper/ladder, brush fire fighting, ambulance, hazardous material response, or other rescue vehicle as required. You will respond all hazardous materials incidents as required. You will perform daily preventative maintenance inspections of firefighting transport vehicles, tools, and medical equipment. You will respond to all medical emergencies and provides advanced patient assessment and treatment for victims of fire, sudden illness, accident injuries, childbirth, and other events requiring medical intervention. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS=-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing fire suppression and prevention, emergency medical treatment and ambulance transport services, emergency communications, and public education and training services. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Additional Information Conditions of Employment (Continued) Certifications required at the time of appointment: GS-09:At the time of appointment, the incumbent must possess a valid State Driver's License, Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (EMT-P) license, current American Heart Association or equivalent certificate in Cardiovascular Resuscitation (CPR), Firefighter I and Firefighter II, HAZMAT Awareness and HAZMAT Operations IAW DODI 1400.25 Vol 336. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid State of California or equivalent driver's license with a Firefighter Endorsement within (30) days of appointment. Incumbent must obtain their EMT-P accreditation through the Inland County Emergency Medical Agency (ICEMA) within 60 days of employment, maintain certification, and adhere to basic scope of practice standards as defined in Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations, throughout his/her career. This is a bargaining unit position. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
