Job Description

About Us

We’re a fast-growing AI research organization on a mission to build next‑generation agentic systems that empower humans, whether by augmenting developer productivity or automating complex enterprise workflows. Leveraging state‑of‑the‑art large language models, reinforcement learning, and multi‑agent architectures, we design and deploy production‑quality AI agents that learn, adapt, and deliver real value in real environments.

Role: Research Scientist, Agent & Model Optimization

As a Research Scientist on our Applied AI team, you will own end‑to‑end research and experimentation to push the frontier of agent abstractions, model orchestration, post‑training techniques (fine‑tuning, reinforcement learning, etc.), prompt engineering, and multi‑agent workflows. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, product teams, and domain experts to prototype, validate, and productionize novel approaches that make our AI agents smarter, safer, and more contextually aware.

What You’ll Do

Design & Run Experiments

  • Architect and implement large‑scale reinforcement learning experiments to refine code‑generation and task‑oriented agents
  • Develop and evaluate post‑training techniques (fine‑tuning, RLHF, prompt tuning) on state‑of‑the‑art language models

Prototype & Productionize

  • Build rapid prototypes to test new agent designs, prompt strategies, and model orchestration patterns
  • Work hand‑in‑hand with software and ML engineers to transition research prototypes into reliable, scalable production services

Collaborate & Mentor

  • Partner with cross‑functional teams (agent design, world modeling, product) to prioritize research questions and align on deliverables
  • Mentor junior researchers and interns, fostering best practices in experimental design, code quality, and scientific communication

Stay on the Cutting Edge

  • Continuously survey the latest academic and industry developments in reinforcement learning, LLM research, and agentic AI
  • Publish findings in top‑tier conferences or contribute to open‑source projects as opportunities arise

What We’re Looking For

Experience

  • 3–8 years of hands‑on experience in applied ML research, with demonstrated success in developing and scaling RL algorithms or post‑training pipelines for large language models
  • Proven track record driving projects from ideation through to production—bonus if you’ve shipped LLM‑powered services or developer tools

Technical Skills

  • Expert proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX)
  • Deep understanding of reinforcement learning methods (policy gradients, actor‑critic, off‑policy learning) and fine‑tuning/LLM optimization techniques
  • Familiarity with multi‑agent systems, prompt engineering, and model orchestration architectures

Education & Publications

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field; or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong publication record in top‑tier ML/AI conferences or demonstrated open‑source contributions (preferred but not required)

Soft Skills

  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a bias for experimentation
  • Strong communication skills, capable of explaining complex ideas to both technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Eager to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment and thrive on taking ownership

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive Salary & Equity — aligned to experience and market benchmarks
  • Flexible Work Options — remote‑friendly, with opportunities for in‑office collaboration in major tech hubs
  • Health & Wellness — comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage; mental health resources
  • Professional Growth — annual conference budget; tools & stipends to support your research
  • Work‑Life Balance — generous paid time off, flexible hours, and a focus on trust, not time in chair

We’re committed to building an inclusive environment where every team member can do their best work. If you’re passionate about advancing AI agents that amplify human potential—and you meet most of the qualifications above—we’d love to hear from you!
