Las Cruces Multimedia Journalist
KVIA-TV is seeking a multimedia journalist to be based in beautiful Las Cruces, New Mexico to join our team. You will cover the issues important to our viewers in Las Cruces and southern New Mexico. You will be provided our New Mexico Mobile Newsroom van, camera, laptop, hotspot & cell phone.

The El Paso/Las Cruces market is at the epicenter of major humanitarian, economic and national security news & events. The ideal candidate will be a versatile professional with a strong on-air presence, exceptional storytelling abilities, and a keen understanding of multimedia journalism.
Responsibilities:
- Focused coverage in the Las Cruces and southern New Mexico area.
- Write, produce, shoot, edit and deliver compelling news stories for on-air and digital platforms.
- Conduct thorough research and interviews to gather accurate information for news reporting.
- Collaborate with the news team to develop innovative story ideas and coverage plans.
- Utilize social media platforms to engage with the audience and promote news content.
- Adhere to strict journalistic standards, ethics, and guidelines in all reporting endeavors.
- Stay updated on current events, trends, and developments to ensure comprehensive news coverage.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field preferred.
- Strong on-air presence and excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro) and multimedia production tools.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced news environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of AP style, news writing principles, and storytelling techniques.
- Flexibility to work early morning shifts and adapt to changing schedules.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check, MVR check, drug screening and possess a valid driver license.
