JOB – Senior Mechanical Engineer

LOCATION – Madison, WI

TERM – Direct Hire

SALARY - $95,000 - $130,000 per annum

INDUSTRY – Process Engineering

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and execution of industrial HVAC and mechanical systems across a range of laboratory, process, and production facility projects. This is a high-impact, client-facing role ideal for someone with a deep understanding of complex mechanical infrastructure, from initial concept through commissioning.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Multiple years of experience in industrial HVAC and mechanical systems design within a consulting engineering firm or mechanical contractor environment.
• Proven expertise with chilled water, hot water, tower, steam, gas, compressed air, refrigeration, and fuel systems.
• Understanding of both comfort and process air-side system design.
• Strong project coordination, client service, and communication skills.
• Ability to balance competing priorities, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to project scope changes.
• Willingness and ability to travel to client facilities for design meetings, system installations, and commissioning activities.
• Familiarity with fire suppression, plumbing, or PLC-based control systems is a plus.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer duties will involve:

• Leading HVAC and mechanical design for high-performance laboratories and process facilities.
• Creating detailed mechanical layouts, equipment specifications, and system schematics.
• Supporting procurement, contractor coordination, and construction oversight.
• Participating in system commissioning and troubleshooting to ensure performance targets are met.
• Collaborating with electrical, controls, and process engineers on integrated facility design.
• Interfacing directly with clients to ensure technical and operational requirements are satisfied.
• Driving continuous improvement in system reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.
