Job Description

An educational role is available for an Itinerant Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to serve K-12 students in a contract position spanning the school year. This position involves providing specialized instructional support to students across multiple school locations within the Joliet, IL area.

Responsibilities include:

• Delivering direct and consultative teaching services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing from Pre-K through 12th grade.
• Developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each students needs.
• Facilitating curriculum access through accommodations, assistive technologies, and auditory/oral or visual communication strategies.
• Collaborating with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, interpreters, and other educational staff.
• Providing training and resources to school personnel and families about hearing loss and communication techniques.
• Monitoring student progress and maintaining thorough documentation.
• Traveling regularly between assigned schools and districts to provide services.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Deaf Education or a related field.
• Valid Illinois teaching certification with an endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
