This position is eligible for a partial remote work option but will require regular in-person work at our office in Pendleton. Background LASO is a statewide non-profit organization that represents low-income clients in civil cases. LASO’s offices serve the general low-income population throughout the state, with two specialized statewide programs for farmworker and Native American issues. LASO is committed to advocacy, litigation, and building an inclusive organizational culture centered on racial equity. We aim to recruit and retain a diverse workforce and provide a welcoming, culturally responsive environment for staff and clients. Pendleton is located near national forests, wilderness areas, and scenic waterways, offering many outdoor recreational opportunities. It retains echoes of the old west and is about 3.5 hours from Portland and Boise, 250 miles from Seattle, and 45 miles from Walla Walla, Washington. Responsibilities Responsibilities include greeting clients, screening for eligibility, conducting intakes, handling busy phone lines, light accounting, and administrative support. The role involves providing support to attorneys, offering information to clients, and making referrals when necessary. Qualifications No prior law office experience is required. Candidates should have excellent people skills, the ability to work with trauma survivors, proficiency with phones, computers, and word processing. Organization, efficiency, a cheerful demeanor, and bilingual Spanish skills are essential. Salary/Benefits Salary ranges from $45,200 to $67,200 annually, depending on experience, with additional bilingual proficiency compensation of $4,300 to $5,700. Benefits include health, vision, dental insurance, retirement contributions, paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, and paid moving expenses.
