Job Description

Role Description:

Full time, on-site role at a greenfield start-up located in Temple, TX. The Metals Analyst will initially be responsible for the installation and startup operations of lab equipment and then shift into the performance of daily in-process and final product elemental analysis of various superalloy products upon completion of the facility. The Metals Analyst will also be responsible for strict adherence of laboratory activities to ISO 17025 and Nadcap quality assurance requirements and supporting Quality Assurance with the governance and administration of those Standards.

Job Functions:

  • Perform compositional analysis in accordance with defined internal processes and mandated industry procedures
  • Assist with drafting and maintaining work instructions for specimen preparation, analysis methods, and analytical equipment operation
  • Ensure that production goals and customer expectations are consistently met in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
  • Perform all laboratory activities while using required PPE and assist in the creation of a Safety-First culture.
  • Ensure Safety and Quality Assurance (QA) standards are being met, and activities are performed in compliance with the company’s Safety and QA programs.
  • Maintain an environment of respect and dignity during employee interactions and problem solving, while ensuring company rules are known and followed.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in a Chemistry, Material Science, or similar engineering or technical-related discipline
  • 5 to 10 years of aerospace captive or commercial superalloy metals testing laboratory experience
  • Significant experience with analytical methods for determining elemental composition of aerospace alloys, including GDMS, XRF, OES, ICP-OES, AA, C-S combustion, and O-N-H gas fusion analysis
  • Experience with audits, requirements, and program governance for Nadcap Material Test Laboratories certification and ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation
  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety and occupational risk prevention.
