We have a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced Optical Leader to make a significant impact on the growth and operational success of a leading ophthalmology and optometry company in California. This leader must have demonstrated prior success growing an optical business while maximizing partnerships with ophthalmology clinics. Successful strategy implementation will include capitalizing on future integration opportunities between the medical and optical divisions.

In addition to providing leadership to over 30 optical locations within our medical clinics, the Senior Director of Optical will have responsibility for the continued expansion of the three Acuity Optical stand-alone businesses. This goal orientated and high energy leader will play a pivotal role in enhancing the success of the state-of-the-art diagnostic technology used by our telehealth Optometrists and optical team to perform digital eye health screenings and detect eye disease.

Success will mean fostering strong, collaborative relationships between the optical and ophthalmology clinic divisions to integrate services, improve patient outcomes, and create a seamless care experience. Partnering with medical and refractive OD's, this leader will lead change and streamline operations to ensure that OD's can maximize the efficiency of their practice and perform at their highest level.

  • Responsible for enhancing the financial and operational performance of the optical division, with a strong emphasis on developing and executing initiatives that maximize revenue growth and reduce costs.
  • Provides overall leadership and support to the three Acuity Optical teams and the optical teams within our medical clinics.
  • Will partner with ophthalmologists and medical and refractive optometrists to streamline processes and maximize practice productivity.
  • Responsible for the development and on-going management of retail operations including launch readiness, operational policies and procedures, and business planning.
  • Evaluate sales and profitability of current locations and identify and implement actions to achieve optimal performance.
  • Develop and lead an effective, scalable, and consistent retail store expansion process.
  • Responsible for EBITDA variance management of daily optical operations and takes action to implement action plans for correction.
  • Standardizes tools, improves processes, and implements technology to drive consistency, efficiency and enhance customer/patient experience.
  • Collaborates closely with ophthalmology leaders including the Directors of Field Operations and MD/OD's to ensure seamless transition of services between optical locations and medical clinics.
  • Owns and drives workforce planning to enable effective forecasting, labor planning and scheduling.
  • Participates in Human Resources activities such as interviewing and hiring candidates, salary administration, performance counseling, corrective action, and performance reviews.
  • Responsible for training, coaching, developing and performance review feedback.
  • Maintains an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintains strict compliance with State, Federal and other regulations (e.g., OSHA, WC, HIPAA, ADA, FEHA, DOL, HR policies and practices).
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, retail management, or related field.
  • 8 -10 years' experience in retail optical and ophthalmology industries.
  • Experience should include multi-store retail operations and opening de novo locations.

  • Experience working closely with optometrists, ophthalmologists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize workflows, drive practice efficiency, and ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.
